Traditional
Christmas concert “Gala de Navidad”
(6 December):
In Jerez’s Teatro Villamarta, this is an annual celebration
of traditional Christmas Flamenco music, song and dance featuring
the most famous local gypsy performers.
El Guido de los Garbanzos - Trebujena
(first weekend in December):
People come from all over the area to enjoy this friendly
festival of the famous winter stew of this area. Locals make
huge pots of the stew which are then served in small portions
to everyone in the streets – and the best stew is judged
the winner for that year.
Sanlucar Tapas Fair (6 – 8 December):
Celebrating the famous food of Andalucia, the tapas, this
fair features a competition for best tapas in this pretty
seaside town, together with tasting and demonstrations.
Chipiona Tapas Fair (6 – 8 December):

Christmas celebrations in Sevilla (8 December):
As part of the traditional celebrations, groups of roving
musicians called “Tunas” perform medieval songs
in streets all over central Sevilla, playing medieval style
instruments and dressed in traditional costumes. (9 December)
Still one of the most unusual church traditions in Spain,
on this date a group of 6 young boys, “Las Seises”
dance in Sevilla cathedral, dressed in 12th century costume.
Christmas celebrations in Jerez (6 December – 6 January):
The festive season in Jerez is celebrated with Zambombas
and Belenes all over town. Zambombas are flamenco carol concerts
performed around bonfires and Belenes are traditional, beautiful
and artistic, often life size, recreations of the nativity
scene. All compete in the annual competition for the best
Belen in the area.
Formula 1 testing (8 – 11 and 15 – 17 December):
Come and watch your Formula 1 heroes test out their cars
on the Jerez Grand Prix Circuit.
Live Nativity Scene in Arcos (14 December):
Performed in one of the prettiest mountain villages in this
area, Arcos has a live Belen (nativity scene) featuring local
people and animals. (22 December) Again in Arcos, and using
most of the villages in different roles, the village recreates
the life and death of Jesus, in 20 different scenes around
the village.
